For the reading program, yes. The pre-reading program builds a deep knowledge of letter sounds from scratch.
For pre-reading and pre-writing, yes. For reading and the writing supplement, these intentionally depart from the original Montessori pink - blue - green approach. Why? Because Maria Montessori created this approach for Italian language learners. Unlike Italian, English is not a phonetic language. Murial Dwyer first adapted Montessori for English many years ago, and our curriculum follows her adaptation.
